Hey y’all I’m Michaela and I’m a freshman at the University of Alabama studying fashion merchandising. I am originally from Boston and with such a drastic change in climates I have found it to be so much fun constantly adjusting my style to fit the weather. Don’t get me wrong if I could have summer weather all year long I would, the only redeeming quality I find in cold weather is all the opportunities for cute layers.
My style, like most people’s, is constantly changing and growing. Lately, I’m really into statement pieces that draw attention without minimizing the outfit as a whole. To keep cold in the winter I’ve found furs, like the fur vest in this outfit, to be a fun sassy way to add a pop of glam to any outfit. And to keep from those dreaded winter blues, I try to incorporate a splash of bright color in all of my looks whether it is in the shoes, jewelry, or even accessories. I also find vintage pieces to be so fun to play around with I love that we can take pieces from the past and add a little modern edge to them while keeping that cool classic look. In this specific outfit, I found my touch of vintage through simple sunglasses that gave my look just a little bit of subtle attitude.
At a school like Alabama, it is hard to not get wrapped up in the everyday look of extra large T-shirts and Nike shorts. It is a simple look that requires no effort and leaves more time for sleep in the morning. With a constant sea of this so-called uniform, it is exciting to see the diamond in the rough on campus who did in fact get out of bed just a little early to put a fabulous look together. I am here to show all of those amazing looks the students of the University of Alabama put together for a beautiful day on campus or an unforgettable night out on the town. I am so excited to embark on this adventure as a fashion guru and I cant wait to share my passion for fashion with all of my fellow Fashionistas out there!
