STYLE GURU BIO: Mia Matacchiero

September 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

Greetings my fellow fashion lovers! My name is Mia Matacchiero, and I am currently a junior at the one and only Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. My major is Retail Merchandising and Product Development with a minor in Business. I am originally from the lovely Tampa, Florida and I temporarily reside in Tallahassee, Florida for my studies.

I come from a long line of glamorous and fashionable women. I choose to believe this is where my deep interest for fashion stems. My grandmother always said when I grow older, people will be wearing clothes with my name on them, and I partly agree with her. With a major in Retail Merchandising and Product Development I do not plan to become a designer, but I do intend to work in the creative end of the industry.

I chose to apply to be a CollegeFashionista Style Guru because of my pure passion for the way people express themselves through clothes. I strongly believe in a “you are what you wear” philosophy. Meaning that you can gain a lot of insight about a person just by the clothes they wear. I do enjoy dappling in all the different trends, but most people describe my style as boho chic. I have this weird obsession with finding luxury items for discount prices and mixing and matching luxury pieces with mass produced ones.

A few fun fashion facts about me consist of a few of my all-time favorite brands: Chanel, Free People, Emilio Pucci and For Love and Lemons. If I had to pick a favorite item from my wardrobe, it would be my vintage Chanel double-strapped suede slip-on sandals that cost me all of $150 dollars at an upscale consignment shop. My go-to staple piece would be a loose fit plain white tank top I picked up at tjmaxx a while back. As Taylor Swift would say “we never go out of style” if we stick to the classics.

This semester I am so excited to bring you the trends and the Fashionistas/os behind them around the Florida State Campus. Let’s get strutting FSU, GO NOLES!!
