STYLE GURU BIO: Meredith Gosnell

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Meredith and I am a sophomore at The College of William and Mary. I’m so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for the first time this upcoming semester and share some of the amazing fashion I see on campus everyday. When you combine living only five minutes away from a colonial town (shoutout to Colonial Williamsburg) with a college campus of over 8,000 there is certainly a variety of personal style. That is one thing I love about William and Mary! There is such an accepting community here that fully embraces our freedoms of personal expression, and I can’t wait to highlight just a small fraction of the incredible flair and individuality I see every day through CollegeFashionista.

Growing up in a small town in Connecticut only an hour away from New York City has probably been one of the biggest influences on my style. That’s why I would describe my style as a mix of preppy, boho and a little grunge. While I love to embrace current trends I’ve seen on the runways and on celebrities, my favorite pieces tend to be basics you can wear forever that will never go out of style.  A simple white t-shirt can go with practically everything and can be the perfect piece for practically any occasion.

Here I’m wearing a simple black and white striped crop top, a very basic summer essential, with a black midi skirt that can easily be dressed up or down depending on the event. I paired this simple look with a pair of Birkenstocks, a recent trend that I’ve embraced as these shoes add a boho touch to any look and are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I own.  When you’re walking all the way across campus the last thing you want are uncomfortable shoes giving you blisters, which is something to which I can personally attest. I also added a chunky watch. This adorable accessory comes in handy during class when phones aren’t allowed and you can’t seem to get a good look at the clock. The final touch is a statement necklace, which is a great final addition to any look.

Thanks for reading Fashionistas/os, and I can’t wait to show off William and Mary’s amazing style this whole semester!
