Hi there. My name is Melissa and I am inspired by all beautiful things. Nothing beats a visually pleasing magazine layout or the intricate, alluring designs created by masterminds of the fashion world. Art and fashion are expressions of emotions, emotions that can be hard to put into words. Art and fashion give emotions and thoughts a physical representation, while adding some color and excitement to the world. I love this. I aspire to describe, with words, the beautiful things that are produced with fashion and art.

I’m currently at the University of Oregon, working toward a major in Journalism. With this, I hope to paint a picture with words for readers by writing for a fashion magazine. And with a minor in Digital Arts and one in Product Design, I hope to contribute to a digitized world of art as well as create an aesthetically pleasing line of lingerie. I’ve always been drawn to the empowering feeling that lingerie gives women, as well as the craftsmanship and detail put into it. Although often lingerie often goes under appreciated, I am inspired by everything about it.

People inspire me too. Whether it’s the mind of a designer like Elie Saab, who creates gossamer designs, or the voice of a singer like SZA, whose silver-tongued notes comfortably flood your ears, I’m inspired. People I pass by on the street, or have a brief conversation with at a coffee shop inspire me as do their stories and their words. Things like these make me want to write. I want to be able to share those stories, to explain why, to give people a voice. Fashion in particular is something I want to discuss because of the intricate web of stories it holds.

With this internship I hope to learn how to write in a way that allows you, the reader, to experience fashion the way I see it. To give you the opportunity to visualize the textures and colors, understand the Fashionistas/o’s story behind their style and appreciate fabulous fashion, all just from reading.

When it comes to my own personal style, it’s hard to find me in any other color besides Black and neutral colors are the ones I often gravitate toward. I find them to be grounding. I like to keep things classy and feminine but with an edge. I’m obsessed with the recurring trend of dark lipsticks, as well as the minimalist trend (hence my blog name: Minimaliss).

My goal as a fashion writer is to provide the best content for the best readers (you guys and gals!) and to have you find inspiration in beautiful things, too.
