Hey everyone! My name is Melanie, and I happen to live right between your two favorite metropolitan cities: Philadelphia and New York! Fashion is ubiquitous within the hub of these major cities which has greatly inspired me to develop my own sense of style. I study Communications and Public Relations at Immaculata University in Malvern, PA with the hopes of becoming a broadcast journalist. So whenever I’m not studying, writing reports or (most likely) stuffing my face with food, I could easily be found around the Philadelphia area or shopping at the Cherry Hill Mall.
I am extremely passionate about fashion, journalism and photography. To me, fashion is more than trends or the newest handbag in a store; it’s an art form which expresses the individual from within. It is a way of saying who YOU are without having to speak at all. Today we live in a world where fashion and technology is rapidly growing in less than a blink of an eye. I believe it is imperative for those who want to achieve overall success, to properly represent themselves in the way they want to be perceived by others. Let’s face it. People make snap judgments which have been proven through various studies. As Miuccia Prada simply states it, “Fashion is an instant language.” We are a species that feeds off of communication and appearance. It is seen everywhere from television, magazine covers to your Instagram feed.
So what is my own style? Well, it solely depends on my mood. One day, I would feel like rocking a military or leather jacket and leggings with my Dr. Martens for a grunge look. Another day I could wear a cute circle skirt and a crop top, aiming for a more cutesy style with some edge. I’ll admit it as being a full-time college student, some days will make you appreciate finding comfort over style. However, I like to incorporate a more hip look on the days I roll out of bed. When I’m off to my 8:00 a.m. class, you can spot me sporting adidas superstars sneaks and joggers. Luckily, my makeup never fails to save the day as I quickly roll on some MAC lipstick in my favorite shade, Velvet Teddy.
I am so excited to show people how to find some comfort in style while still looking like a total diva. I will also include other style coordinations for more put together looks. Hopefully through my posts, people can take away the fact that at the end of every day, it’s all about your own personal style.
