STYLE GURU BIO: Melanie Butron

Hey Fashionista/os! I’m super excited to be returning as a Style Guru for the spring semester. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet all the people I photographed so far and look forward to meeting more stylish people on campus in the following months. I love complimenting the people on my campus. I’m also amazed at their ability to pull together an awesome outfit despite having early classes.

I find it easy getting ready in the morning because I have a fairly simple style. My closet is not bursting with color, but rather has every shade between black and white. I’ve been wearing gray a lot recently, and that is the color I decided to feature in this look.

It has been unusually warm in New York for December, but I take advantage of this weather by wearing my lighter coats. Biker jackets are my absolute favorite, and here I am wearing a grey boucle one. Textures are a great detail that give simple pieces a unique aspect. Blanket scarves are my go-to cold-weather accessory and the bigger, the better. I wear them either draped around my body or wrapped around my head to keep myself warm.

I kept my bottom half very simple with a pair of black jeans and my favorite Vagabond lace-up boots. Even though they are heeled, the platform makes them really easy to walk in. I wear these shoes everywhere because they can be dressed up with some tights and a skirt or worn casually with some ripped denim or boyfriend jeans. Versatility is a must for me because my style changes with my mood every day.

Even though I tend to stay on the safe side with colors and pairings, I’m not afraid to put unexpected pieces together. What matters the most is that I am comfortable and feel confident in what I am wearing.
