STYLE GURU BIO: Melanie Aman

Hey guys! My name is Melanie and I’m finishing up my final semester as a journalism student at the University of Florida. After 16 years of the academic grind, I’m counting down the days until graduation. After graduation I will be joining the hundreds of other broke college graduations trying to make a living in New York City. Wish me luck.

As I prepare for my final semester with CollegeFashionista, I am still amazed to see how much the brand has grown. My three semesters with CollegeFashionista have not only been a creative outlet, but it have also connected me with other fashion-conscious girls and guys around the country, many of whom have become amazing friends.

My day-to-day style has slowly regressed to a state of ultimate comfort; soft fabrics and sneakers have become my unofficial uniform. I’m still trying to understand how I wore heels almost three days a week in high school. Despite my commitment to “basic-ness” I like to think my style runs the gamut. Some days I prefer a very minimal aesthetic so I’ll rock a shift dress and slides. Other days you can find me in my trusty leather jacket and ripped denim. Fashion really has no rules.

When I first started writing for CollegeFashionista, my initial belief was that stylish dudes and babes would be few and far between in Gainesville. For the most part I was right, but the few that have managed to wow me in Florida’s incessant 90-degree temperatures continue to be one of my biggest sources of inspiration. This last semester is sure to be the best yet, so stay tuned for Gainesville’s finest.
