STYLE GURU BIO: Meghan Roberts

Hello dear reader! My name is Meghan Roberts, and I’m excited to be embarking on my fifth semester writing as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I’m currently a junior at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where I major in Film and Television and minor in Psychology and Studio Art.

You’re probably wondering how I got here seeing as I do not study fashion, but for me, it’s simple. I love art, and fashion is one of its most fascinating forms. I’m interested in what I wear and what other people wear or don’t wear and therefore, feel a compulsion to pay attention to it. I’ve never been one to follow the crowd either, so you’ll be seeing posts that feature a lot of fearless creativity and unique stylings.

For the winter and upcoming spring seasons, I’m feeling amorous about this glamorous faux fur coat with nails to match, paired with pink tinted sunglasses that make me feel like a ’90s popstar. I still love chokers, but have taken a liking to this simple velvet one as of recent as opposed to the tattoo chokers I wore all summer and fall. I live in my classic Dr. Martens and have been sporting thigh-highs instead of pants whenever I get the chance. Weird, strange and colorful lipsticks are still my best friends and as you can see, I have added a bright creamsicle orange color called “Sushi Kiss” to my collection.

When I’m not busy filming, writing or taking up random artistic ventures, you’ll probably find me scampering around the East Village in impractical shoes and outerwear that isn’t warm enough, feverishly tearing through racks and piles of clothing in thrift and vintage stores around the city or eating mac and cheese somewhere as I’ve been in a weirdly serious phase where I am obsessed with it and have made like an 8-year-old and ordered it wherever I go.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, when it comes to fashion, there is truly nowhere like New York City and no school like NYU. With no campus, or real spirit, people here don’t dress to go to class, they dress to go out into the world, making some of the coolest, craziest fashion statements you’ll see anywhere. I can’t wait to see what new trends will arise and what everyone will be wearing when they are back from break.
