Hello! My name is Meghan Roberts and I’m thrilled to get started with my second semester as a Style Guru, writing STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK. Last semester, I wrote the FASHIONISTA/O SPOTLIGHT and though I am sad that I will no longer be interviewing the fashionable folk I come across, I am excited about showcasing the unique stylings of NYU’s many creative students.
I am currently a sophomore majoring in Film and Television at Tisch School of the Arts.
When I’m not filming or working, I enjoy Thai food, The 1975, hitting the Met and exploring. As for my personal style, I’m willing to try anything and everything and find inspiration on the internet, from films and from all other forms of art. I love black, white and pastels and like experimenting with textures while keeping it minimal and clean. At the moment, I am loving faux fur in all shapes and colors, plaid, schoolgirl mini skirts with thigh highs, these sneaker/boot hybrids that haven’t left my feet since fall, turtlenecks, chokers and bold lipsticks in unnatural shades (my favorite is Airborne Unicorn)! I also have a tendency to steal snapback hats from the boys and pair them with whatever I’m wearing for a more casual vibe.
The streets of New York are somewhat of a public runway today. With the lack of campus at NYU, students are mixed in with everyone else, creating a lovely conglomeration of styles. This year, my resolution is to find not only the savviest of trend followers, but the trendsetters who are bold and brave and experimenting, using the streets as their own personal runway. I look forward to the semester and cannot wait to see what will be big!
