STYLE GURU BIO: Megan Sperry

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Megan Sperry and I am a Style Guru intern for CollegeFashionista this spring. I am so excited to both share and learn style ideas from other Fashionistas around the country. I have always been passionate about fashion and I absolutely want to have a career in the fashion world. My dream job would be a fashion editor for a magazine or stylist for a TV show.

I would say my style is very contemporary with a polished edge. The ’60s and ’70s genres were the eras that made me really into fashion. I feel it was the ultimate glamour period, and I always try to incorporate elements of those times into my outfits. From fringe bags or jackets to large chunky platforms to fur vests and coats with round, oversized sunglasses.

I love mixing pieces from this era with more modern items, such as black lace and distressed shirts and jeans. My favorite piece in my closet I cannot live without is a black jumpsuit with lace detail. I have always loved rompers and jumpsuits. I also love all black and white outfits — there is something so sophisticated about the contrast with the two and no other colors. Together, I feel my outfits pull from a lot of different inspirations.

My favorite designers are Missoni, Valentino and Stella McCartney. I love Missoni’s bright colors and knits, Valentino’s structured bags and edgy shoes and Stella McCartney’s simple, modern lines. Altogether, I feel this “Big Three” creates the ultimate dream closet. In order to achieve their looks for less, I really like looking in Zara and H&M. They have great pieces at amazing prices which can create awesome fashion for any Fashionista.
