STYLE GURU BIO: Megan Quist

Hello fellow Fashionistas! I’m Megan Quist and this fall I will be a junior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. My addiction to clothes started back in 10th grade when our Fashion Merchandising class took a trip to New York. With some behind the scenes connections as well as some couture, I never wanted to leave.

Although I would love to pursue my own line, I wanted a more promising career, therefore I embedded business into my major. Retail Merchandising is my major while Management is my minor.

I am very thrilled to have this be my job due to my natural inclination to pull up Pinterest when free time arises or boredom hits. Which has led to the major problem of having two overflowing closets: one at school and one at home. What can I say? Clothes are a girl’s best friend.

Looking at People Style Watch: Falls Top Trends, a few things stood out to me. Such as mix and match prints, pops of pink, and the classic white shirt. I decided to put on a striped mini skirt, which could be paired with a plaid flannel or checkered jacket if you wanted to be a “Mix Master.” As summer is still here, I decided to go with the white crop top. My pop of pink would be my Marc Jacobs bag.

Hats, hats, hats. This season it’s all about hats. The oversized fedora is a must have accessory as it can be dressed up or down. Even more alluring is the fact that it can be found almost anywhere. No one can honestly tell if your fedora is designer. Just stop by Target or Forever 21 for a simple fifteen dollars.

Embellishments are also a must. From studs to cuffs and heavy metal, buy them all. It may look a little rugged and manly on the rack, but once you try it on with the perfect outfit that masculinity is taken all away. My shoes are flats that have studded embellishments on the border as well as the straps. These happen to be one of my top favorite studded flats, and were a random find on Amazon.
