My name is Megan Lambert and this is my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I am beyond excited to be your guide on WHAT TO WEAR. I am currently a junior at the Florida State University studying Retail Merchandising and Product Development. I grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and when I had the chance, I said goodbye to the snow and ice and made it down to the sunshine state. Since my move from home, I have made amazing memories with awesome people, became a vegetarian (shout out to my ex-boyfriend, Chic-Fil-A, I still love you) and took a huge step and adopted a Great Dane puppy — pun intended. All of these new and exciting changes have been such a whirlwind for me, but one thing that has always remained a constant in my life was my love for fashion.
I have always had a creative mind, I developed hobbies in my free time of writing, drawing and taking pictures. I found that the one thing that connected all of these things together was fashion. If you were to look under my bed at my home in Pennsylvania, you would find scrapbooks full of drawings and magazine cutouts of different styles that I made back in elementary school. Although my style has definitely changed since then, my love for the fashion world has remained. When it came time to it, I had no problem choosing what I wanted to do with my life. After graduating in spring of 2014, I plan to do whatever it takes to get to my dream job as a stylist.
I would have to say that my sense of style is constantly changing. I think this comes from how easily inspired I am by others and how I find beauty to be so diverse. It makes it almost impossible for me to describe my style in a single word. One day I might draw inspiration from style icon, Kate Moss, wearing my flared Citizens of Humanity Jeans with a basic T-shirt, and the next I might have on a polished blazer, high waist trousers and a girly blouse influenced by fashion icon, Olivia Palermo. Overall, I must say that I feel most inspired through street fashion. Nothing takes my breath away more than the fun, daring outfits I see from street fashion that makes me ask myself “how can I recreate this look through my wardrobe?” This is why I am so thrilled to be a Style Guru for Florida State University and I can’t wait to be inspired by the fashionable students on campus. I hope my articles will inspire you and encourage you to try new styles just like you all do for me!
