Hello Fashionistas/os! I am Megan Ezell from the University of Arkansas and so excited to be posting about WHAT TO WEAR to all of the important events in our college student lives. I am currently in my second semester as an Arkansas Razorback and am enjoying every minute of this new adventure. I am studying apparel studies to one day become a buyer for a major retailer like Dillard’s or Nordstrom!
My love of fashion began at an early age when I would throw fits until I was dressed in something that suited my liking (sorry, mom). I have enjoyed putting together outfits of my own ever since and am often summoned by my close friends and family to pick out their outfits for whatever occasion (my sister actually refers to me as her personal stylist). It is definitely a hobby of mine that I plan on one day making into my career. Last fall, I got the opportunity to attend Teen Vogue Fashion University in New York City where the reality of the glamorous world of fashion really set in. I got to listen and speak with successful designers like Nanette Lapore and Kelly Wearstler. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to run into CollegeFashionista’s Amy Levin while I was there. This experience definitely put my love of fashion into full speed trying to find the next fashion related thing I could get into. And that is where CollegeFashionista came in.
I would describe my style as forever changing. I love trying new things and finding new places to shop. I strongly believe style shouldn’t be based on how many major designers you can compact into one outfit. I love mixing big tag items with my local thrift shop finds. I think that really gives character to outfits I put together. But don’t get me wrong, I find myself frequently saving up for my favorite big ticket items. My most recent splurge was my aviator Ray-Bans that I adore.
Like I said, I will be writing under the topic WHAT TO WEAR for each Thursday (believe it or not, Arkansas guys and gals aren’t just about missing teeth and mullets). The University of Arkansas campus has quite a few fashion-forward students so I’ll be keeping an eye out for the most fashionable 20-somethings on my campus.
