STYLE GURU BIO: Meg Rotter

It’s that time of year again: classes are starting, football is kicking off and I am beginning my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! This fall, I am returning to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete my major in Journalism and my certificates in Digital Studies and Studio Art. Heading into my junior year, I am excited to continue reporting on our campus’s latest trends and hearing about collegiate style across the country.

While my wardrobe has shifted over the years, my core clothing principles have remained. I would describe my personal style as preppy minimalism, similar to the darling Olivia Palermo. J.Crew, Gap and H&M have fueled my wardrobe and have left my closet brimming with basics. Currently, my favorite go-to accessory is my chestnut brown heeled mules. Their classic color and wide-stacked heel make them perfect for any outfit.

My look for today shows off my girly style. The cream chiffon dress, with its light material, is perfect for a warm day. Its floral accents and ruffled hem set the dress apart from others, offering a uniquely feminine touch. For footwear, I chose my lace-up wedge sandals. The perfect combination of formal and casual, these sandals work for many occasions. Bringing a touch of pink back into my look, I opted for my beloved kate spade tote, the ideal carrier for my laptop and books. Finally, I finished my look off with some subtle, floral earrings.

While clothing is often the central feature of a look, I believe beauty is equally important. My current look shows off my brown, wavy hair and creates a natural look. Although my flat iron is a godsent, I would be lost without my curling wand. Rather than clamping my locks in a classic curling iron, I like the loose curls that a wand can create. For makeup, I proceeded with my natural look, emphasizing my cheeks with a lightly flushed blush.

Now that you know a little more about me, hear about my campus’ awesome style. Check back with me on the first of every month to catch up on UW-Madison’s latest trends!
