STYLE GURU BIO: Medgnie Altidor

September 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

My name is Medgnie Altidor. I’m currently a junior studying Finance at Temple University. This is my second I’m semester as a Style Guru and I’m excited!

Fashion is important to me because I can be who I want to be through it. I don’t have to or choose to dress like everyone else because then I wouldn’t be me. I dislike copying everyone else and being just like them. I personally think it is better for people to have their own styles and not to just jump on the bandwagon because something is ‘cool’ and popular. People shouldn’t care what others think about them and their style, because maybe they are inspiring someone else to be themselves.

I’m passionate about fashion—almost every aspect. Fashion allows me to dip into another world and escape the one I’m living in. I wear black on any type of day but I usually wear brighter colors when I am happier or excited. The designs and words on my shirts reflect me and my beliefs or actions. Personal style is at its best when it brings out your best qualities that makes you look and feel the best inside and out. Having your own bold, creative style can give you the confidence to get through every day. When you look good, you feel good. As Coco Chanel said, “The best color in the whole world is the one that looks best on you.”

I would say that my personal style is between classic and modern. The foundation to my wardrobe is most definitely black because I worked at Macy’s, but I also wear many neutral colors and pink. I like experimenting with what I wear and sometimes adding something dramatic to my outfit. My favorite clothes to wear are dresses, skirts, joggers and colorful tops. I’m also heavily influenced by African fashion trends.

My main focus this semester is to take some new style tips from fellow Fashionistas/os to enrich my wardrobe with new styles and encourage other students at Temple University to become Style Gurus. I can’t wait to share some of my favorite looks with you this semester from my campus. I look forward to a fun and fashionable semester! I’m a wearing a Fire Juniors’ Sleeveless Printed Maxi Dress from MACY’S,  Fedora hat, Gold-Tone Key Necklace and bracelets. Stay tuned every Tuesday for posts that bring you the latest trends from Temple University.
