STYLE GURU BIO: Meagan Maguire

Hey Fashionistas, my name is Meagan Maguire and I am currently a junior at SUNY Oneonta. I am studying fashion merchandising with the hopes of attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in the fall.

I am from New Jersey so attending college in upstate New York is a big change for me. In Oneonta, you are stuck in a permanent winter with temperatures commonly in the negatives. However, as they say in Frozen, “the cold never bothered me anyway,” which is why I will still wear my favorite skirt in freezing temperatures. One of the most important things I’ve learned going to school in Oneonta is to not let the weather or stress of school work dictate your outfit. If you dress up, studies show you are more confident in your abilities and it even increases your abstract thinking skills. I am a firm believer in the power of a great outfit. Give a girl a great pair of shoes, and she can conquer the world!

I am very passionate about traveling and I have been lucky enough to visit so many amazing countries like Germany, France, Greece, and Turkey to name a few. It always fascinates me to see the differences and similarities in fashion trends around the world. I love to find cute foreign clothing stores that ship to the United States so I can bring unique looks on to campus.

I am only 5’0″ with extremely pale skin and red hair, so I personally find it a lot more difficult to find outfits that fit right while complementing my pale skin tone and red hair. My absolute favorite color to wear is green because I feel it really brings out my hair and skin tone. That’s why I love this skirt, it’s two of my favorite things: green and leather. I decided to pair it with this crop top and my favorite pair of over-the-knee boots. Over-the-knee boots are my absolute favorite because they can easily make the transition to any season.

I could not think of a more #RAD way to start off my 2017 than beginning my internship with CollegeFashionista! I am so excited to share all the trends I find on campus with you!
