STYLE GURU BIO: Masoma Imasogie

January 9th, 2015 at 2:05am

HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to my fourth CollegeFashionista STYLE GURU BIO! To all the new readers, my name is Masoma Imasogie—some people call me Mas. I have just completed my first semester at the University of Pennsylvania. No, I am not a freshman; I am a sophomore transfer student from George Washington University.

Since the last time we got to chat, one-on-one, I’ve settled into my new school and thankfully love it. I am in the process of changing from a Communications major with a Fine Arts minor to a solid Fine Arts major and have recently fallen in love with old school Black & White film photography.

In 2014 my goals were to move out to Los Angeles for the summer to pursue an internship in fashion, to apply and get accepted to the Ivy League of my choice: UPenn, and continue my passion: fashion. I am here today to say: ‘check, check and check!’ and it feels SO good to have set my mind on something and actually accomplished it!

I have also joined my school’s fashion magazine called TheWALK. So far I have styled editorial photo shoots, photographed and even written for the magazine and it has been great. My initial thought of a school magazine was that it would be a few kids begging their peers to see the world of fashion through their artistic lens. I was so wrong, with TheWALK the community is so large I haven’t even met everyone yet! From the editors, to the people working on layout, everyone has a part in making the magazine transform from emails, ideas scraps, visionary boards and 1 a.m. thoughts into legitimate print editorial.

I’m beyond thrilled to be apart of the CollegeFashionista family for my fourth semester in a row and I can’t wait for you all to see the dope things we have in store this time around. Stay tuned to read articles about my obsession with denim, my new love for blanket scarves this winter, my ongoing relationship with the black, white and gray color pallete and of course, these gorgeous booties photographed above. But exceeding all that, stay tuned for the launch of the CollegeFashionista Beauty Bar that I will be taking part in.

Until next time!
