STYLE GURU BIO: Mary Timko

There are so many reasons to be happy. One of my reasons is fashion. My name is Mary Rose Timko and being a Style Guru is a dream come true for a small town girl like myself. As a junior at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, I know that the future is holding very fashionable things for me. My major is Business: Marketing, but ultimately I would like to apply that major to the fashion world.

I remember when I was younger my mom would tell me we were going to my grandma’s house for the weekend. Although I love my grandmother oh so dearly, to me that secretly meant shopping! Growing up in a small Midwest town with only a Wal-Mart, and a few smaller shops, it always felt like a true treat to go shopping. I truly believe that is why I love it so much. I wasn’t constantly surrounded by it, and that is why I craved it. Fashion, styling, accessorizing and blogging are all things that run in my veins.

I decided to start blogging for my school newspaper my sophomore year, after being encouraged by a few of my best friends. That blog ended up giving me the confidence I needed to start my own personal blog, maryrosetimko.com. I have always had people asking me to borrow clothes, or asking where I got certain pieces. I thought the blog was a nice way to share those details with others. I never thought it would have landed me here! Blogging is truly my escape. The happiness I feel when styling outfits for my posts reassures me that this is my passion.

I would describe my style as girly, simple, trendy and occasionally bohemian. I know, I know…what a hodgepodge right? I truly believe that is the way to go, though. For me I try to stay current with trends, even if they aren’t my defined style. As long as I like them, I will go for it. I think its important for Fashionistas/os to know that you don’t have to have a “style.” Wear what you want, when you want, and do not be afraid to rock it!

Right now I am loving floor length cardigans, booties and gold accessories. I stuck with an outfit I could rock for multiple events!

I cannot wait to have an insanely fashionable fall with all of you. It is going to be completely RAD!
