STYLE GURU BIO: Martha Eelman

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I’m Martha, a senior at Indiana University. I’m a fashion merchandising major with a minor in Business and Fashion Design. I’ve just recently tapped into my design side and hope to expand on that in the next few years. Being a senior is terrifying! I still feel like I should be a sophomore, but I’m trying to embrace adulthood (Yeah, we’ll see about that)!

This will be my second semester as a style guru with the College Fashionista team. I was a part of the program this past spring. I then took the summer off to drive across the United States for 40 days! I packed up the car and took off heading West with my boyfriend. It was the dreamiest 40 days of my life. I’m talking California beach days, natural cacti, hot weather, windows down, food trucks and loud music. I could go on forever. Now that we’re all back in the groove of school, I’m so excited to be apart of the College Fashionista community again! Being in the Midwest can be limiting at times. So, having a platform like this gives me so much perspective into other regions real-life fashions. It’s fun to see trend similarities and differences across all our different campuses. Plus, I love to find new style gurus to gawk over and Insta-stalk. No shame!

As for my style, don’t be fooled by this minimal outfit! What I wear changes by the day. Somedays, I’m feeling over-the-top bohemian, slightly minimal or like a surf-skate tomboy. I like way too many different styles to be able to stick to just one. Growing up, I was always shy and still am in certain situations. Fashion and style have helped me overcome this by expressing myself in a quieter way, if you will. Instead of having to vocalize my personality, I let it shine in what I wear.
