STYLE GURU BIO: Marshea Walton

Hello, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Marshea Walton and I am more than enthused to say that I’m back for a second round as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru!
As a current Strategic Communication major and English minor at the prestigious Hampton University, I have confidence that you can have anything you want in this world if you can write for it. Writing is my natural talent and I’ll be using it to report the hottest fashion trends on my campus for the spring semester.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, the city has always influenced my style. If I had to describe my style, it’d be high-end glam falls in love with street-chic. I can make a midi dress and pumps look good, but I can also bring out the posh in leather biker pants and tennis shoes. My style inspiration would be Kyrzayda Rodriguez and my favorite fashion destination is The Zoe Report!

I happen to be a firm believer that fashion wouldn’t be anything without style. You can own the most couture and expensive garment in the world, but, if you don’t know how to wear it, then the purpose of fashion is defeated. Fashion is external, but style is internal and eternal. Fashion icon, Edna Woolman Chase once said, “Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess” and a true fashionista/o understands the importance of both.
Outside of fashion, I’m also a lover of all things PR, media and pop culture. I like to consider myself a PR connoisseur and a fashion maven. After years of experience working at the largest and best PR firm to exist, Edelman, I plan on building my brand as a celebrity publicist. In the future, I plan to become the CEO of my very own self-titled multi-specialized PR firm. I would love to retire with two books: one explaining my road to success and the other, a survival kit for working in the world of PR and fashion.
With that being said, I’m excited to see what the spring semester brings!
