STYLE GURU BIO: Marjhani Simpson

January 7th, 2016 at 2:00am

Hey Fashionista/os, my name is Marjhani Sahar Simpson and I am currently a sophomore at Syracuse University.  I started out as a secondary education major but soon realized my passion of fashion and magazines.  So I quickly changed to English and communications with the hopes of one day working at some of the most well known fashion magazines (ahem, Vogue).

Because of the cold weather, it is often hard to showcase some of my best outfits, but that never stops me from dressing my best every day.  Just because the people at the bus stop can’t see what I’m wearing doesn’t mean I should deprive my classmates of my genius styling talents, right?  Throughout my freshman year, my style changed a lot.  At first I tried to get super dressy every day to show everyone that I could dress.  But I soon learned that being stylish doesn’t always have to mean being uncomfortable.  One day I’ll be wearing joggers and my fav pair of adidas sneakers, but then you’ll catch me with my thigh-high boots and a simple T-shirt dress.  And that is one of the main things I love about being a college student—you can have the most versatile wardrobe.

I love to get my inspiration from Instagram and Tumblr. While I can’t afford the super expensive designer brands (yet), I like to use it as a template to craft my own outfits.  Just like any other broke girl my age, I often find myself shopping at Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfiters, thrift shops (you can find some of the greatest things if you look hard enough!) and other “young adult” stores geared towards people my age.  My favorite trend right now?  All-black everything with a pop of color.  You can never go wrong with it and it’s such and easy go-to outfit.

I can’t wait to share my fashion knowledge and the things that I will soon figure out with you guys
