Do you know that moment when you walk into a store and automatically know if the shopping trip will be fabulous or a bust? With just a touch of the fabric or a glimpse of the clothes, you can easily tell if it’s the right store for you. Finding the right clothes that fit your shape and personality can be difficult. But when you discover it, it almost becomes a sixth sense.

I found my sixth sense when I was young and with that my love for fashion. Some of my earliest memories are of shopping with the different generations of women in my family. From going into Gymboree and Limited Too when I was young, to now shopping at GUESS and Urban Outfitters, my style changed as the years went by. I went through the different phases from flowers and graphic T-shirts to more modern and chic looks. Each of these phases represented a part of me, as they still do. It made me envision style to be a reflection of one’s personality and stage of life. All of this added to my love of fashion and made me interested in fashion journalism, which has led me to pursue a degree in journalism and graphic design at Drake University.

One of my favorite looks is my patterned maxi skirt from Aeropostale. While maxi dresses are a big trend right now, many don’t have much of a shape without a belt. The maxi skirt is able to provide a more fitting look with the side slit, and paired with a bodysuit from Free People, it is able to create a waistline that is figure flattering. It is also easy to accessorize! For this outfit I chose a PacSun felt hat in black, along with a pair of Franco Sarto sandals in clementine orange. To finish this look, I added my favorite kate spade clutch in a light blue.

This look is perfect for an everyday look or even for school. It can easily be dressed up for date night by just adding heels, or it can be worn for a casual outing with friends.
