STYLE GURU BIO: Marissa Altemus

Hi, Fashionistas/os! I am thrilled to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer. I just completed my sophomore year at the University of Pittsburgh and am majoring in Marketing. Pitt does not offer any fashion related classes, so I am so excited to express my sense of style through the articles I write this summer. I am a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma and part of the Fashion Business Association club.

Upon graduation, my goal is to work for a retail store, such as Free People or Nordstrom. My ultimate “dream job” is to become a buyer for any store. With my interest in marketing and fashion, I know this job would be perfect for me.

Ever since I can remember, I have always had a love for clothing. When I was younger, I would always read the latest fashion magazines and play dress up. I currently work at T.J.Maxx, and it is hard to leave a shift without buying new clothes. I love putting together new outfits and giving customers style advice.

Because I am in a sorority, I have access to 100 closets; therefore, it is very easy to put together an amazing outfit. In fact, my closet can barely hold all of the clothes I own.

My style really defines who I am. Some of my favorite designers are: Free People, Vince, Lucky, Michael Kors, and many more! These designers have very diverse pieces that really stand out to me. Without my style, I truly feel that I would not be who I am.
