STYLE GURU BIO: Marisa Casciano

Hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Marisa, and I’m beyond excited to be a Style Guru again this semester for Quinnipiac University!

For those of you who are meeting me for the first time, I am a Communications major with an Art minor and a passion for fashion. I love art and, to me, clothes are just another form of it. Everyday you get to create using the pieces in your closet.

But whether it is art or fashion, I love it because it has the ability to inspire you. You may be a fashion disaster one day, and the next a fashion icon—all because of a runway look or something you saw in a magazine. Everybody is inspired in different ways, and it makes walking down the sidewalk or through the halls to class a lot more interesting when you get to see how inspiration struck everybody that day.

The past semester as a Style Guru has been incredible and constantly inspires me to do more with fashion and art. I have been introduced to runway looks, designers and new directions I can take my own style in. Growing up, I seriously rocked embroidered jeans and turtlenecks. Nowadays my style is a little different. I combine lace and combat boots of a bohemian look with the flannels and artsy shirts of a hipster one (which normally means I stick out at Quinnipiac where preppy is the go-to look).

This semester, I can’t wait to throw myself into the fashion world even more. I’m really interested in fashion illustration and fashion photography now, and may be one of just a handful of people who love working in retail. I’m not sure where in the fashion industry that there’s a place for me yet, but I’m hoping that I can push others to find their style or be everyday fashion icons around campus with CollegeFashionista.

Stay tuned Fashionistas/os because there’s a lot more to come.
