STYLE GURU BIO: Marisa Barnett

Hello Fashionistas! Welcome to my page! I’m so excited for the opportunity to write for CollegeFashionista. Fashion has been, and continues to be, an outlet of expression for me. I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts on here and getting to learn from my fellow Fashionistas! Here is a bit about me. I grew up just outside of Nashville, Tennessee and despite popular stereotypes, my wardrobe does not consist of all camouflage and cowboy boots (although I will admit to owning one pair…). Last year, I moved to the glorious city of Chicago and started school at DePaul. I have to say, the shopping here surpasses anything I have back home.

Being in Chicago has definitely had an impact on my personal style. For starters, it is much colder here. Walking through out the city, I see so many people and styles. Some are rather interesting, but they are rocking it. My first rule of fashion is confidence. I am a firm believer that you can rock anything you want with a little confidence and that no matter what, you should always dress for yourself. Seeing those who live by this has encouraged me to take risks with my style. My first priority is, however, comfort. Being in college, especially in a big city, requires a great deal of walking. I’m more likely to be rocking a pair of Birkenstock’s than a pair of heels. I am a huge fan of the “kind of ugly but really comfy” trend. Most days, my go-to is high-waisted jeans or shorts, a simple top and a few accessories. Of course, I do love the days I get to dress up. I don’t tend to stick to a defined style. Fashion is always changing, as am I. My feed will showcase the forever changing fashion trends and hopefully my readers will be able to gain inspiration!
