STYLE GURU BIO: Marianna Torres

September 1st, 2016 at 2:00am

Welcome to another semester of fashion blogging and fierce photos. My name is Marianna Torres and I am a marketing major at Temple University. This is my second semester interning for CollegeFashionista and I am not only looking forward to growth in my writing through this internship, but also in photography. Being a Style Guru has taught me that there is never a shortage of inspiration whether it comes to studying New York Fashion Week or checking out fellow Style Gurus. I hope that my future posts can inspire those reading in the same way others have inspired me.

What is currently inspiring me? Back-to-school season! While most cringe at the sound of the phrase, to me, it is almost synonymous with fall. According to a recent twitter poll I did, 35 people unanimously voted that fall was their favorite season. What’s not to love? Pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks, cinnamon candle scents flood the stores and I can finally wear jeans without feeling gross by the end of the day. The first few weeks of school can still resemble summer so jeans that are lightweight and distressed are essential since they allow more freedom than a regular jean.

A quick fact about me is that I love peasant tops. It does not matter if they are long or cropped, all peasant tops deserve some kind of love. The peasant top I am wearing hits mid belly button and shows off only a sliver of skin. My go-to accessory this summer was a wide brim straw fedora and it became my savior on bad hair days. I love that I can wear this into fall and it will totally come in handy on those days that I am running late.

For the last few months, I have seen continued growth in myself. Fashion blogging is more than just cute pictures and outfits; it is about self expression, the willingness to step out of your comfort zone and being inspired by everyday life. As I venture out into the sleek crisp aesthetic of the business world, I know that my faith will always be in peasant tops and ripped jeans. Here’s to a RAD semester!
