STYLE GURU BIO: Maria Piccirillo

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” For me fashion is a gateway to all other beautiful things this world has to offer. As an international student at the University of Valencia via University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s international business program, I see first hand how fashion brings together cross cultures.

The streets are the people’s runways. Freedom of expression is on every corner and limits are nonexistent. Fashion has always driven me to step into a world where I can explore new forms of creativity. I see it as one of the greatest outlets we as individuals have. Fashion has brought so much more to my life than just a trendy outfit for the moment. For me fashion enriches my everyday. Fashion is confidence!

In a world full of change and evolution I have found two passions that I have brought together. I look forward to sharing with you all my passion for fashion alongside my need and craving to travel. The two go hand in hand because with each adventure comes a whole new world of style to explore!

In these photos, I am wearing one of my summer staples my white distressed high-wasted shorts from Pull and Bear, a light playful Bershka top, vintage camel suede jacket from Express and adidas Stan Smith Originals. The weather here in Valencia, Spain calls for light layers, as the summer heat is right around the corner.
