STYLE GURU BIO: Marcela Lazaro

Hola, bien venidos! My name is Marcela Lazaro and I am currently awaiting for my second year at the University of Virginia where I will be pursuing a major in Media Studies! Pop culture has always been a central aspect of my interest, fashion being a very heavy concentration of it. Though not a vicarious reader of the upper echelons of fashion print, I always look into street style candids for inspiration of urban attire. Having been an unkempt tomboy in my early years of youth did I later realize how much fashion would positively affect me…as well as the countless hours in front of the mirror looking for the perfect outfit. This is my first time ever writing for CollegeFashionista and I am very much excited in sharing my fashion experiences with an audience!

Being a first generation Mexican in Southern California, I have always been interested in the apparel of others and the trends surfacing the specific area such as in my trips to Mexico or to the East Coast. Though I wouldn’t deem my style as the most high end of garbs, I will say that I try my best to look “al cien,” and am always flattered when people notice! My style inspirations currently are Zoe Kravitz, FKA Twigs and Selena Quintanilla-Perez as well as the runways of Vivetta, Miu Miu and vintage Versace (the Gianni era). Ultimately fashion has consumed my life for the better as it has grown from what before was a hobby, to now a possible future as it is something I cannot see myself not working in.

My style for the most part falls into the basis of dark colors as I cant find myself not incorporating black somehow into my outfit. At the moment, a lot of outfits have been put together by my favorite leather jacket as well as with equally rad ankle strap boots! But before I head out the door, no outfit is ever complete without my red lip.

I’ll be sure to post a more photogenic photo of myself next time, in the meantime be sure to check out my posts every Wednesday!
