I am currently a junior at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah studying Business. I am also building an international natural health business. This will be my first time as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited about it!
While in high school, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity of studying fiber arts (fashion development and product design), along with operating a successful enterprise in the fashion industry. This opportunity offered me exposure to fashion writing and styling, international travel, trend watching, and product design. Little did I know that all these experiences would prepare me to be led to CollegeFashionista. Fashion has been my passion since I was a young girl, and I learn to love it even more each day!
My personal style tends to be drawn from classic pieces designed by traditional designers. This is especially true currently as I have been shopping for my fall wardrobe. I rely on articles of clothing such as skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans, simple yet stylist jersey dresses, casual oxford cloth dress shirts and kakhi pants as the weather will be rapidly changing during the upcoming semester. I especially love anything that is a basic solid color—bright or neutral—as it can be paired with a fun bright print accessory such as a scarf, cardigan or jacket. Accessories hand crafted in third-world countries have been of great appeal, and are a wonderful addition to my collection.
Ever been worried about not being able to express your style within a limited budget? Fear not! Along the journey, I have learned that one can be creative and fashionable on a budget. I have found that I can find the brands that speak to me personally, such as Ralph Lauren and Coach, at great discounts if I know where to look. The same experience can happen for any Fashionista who expresses determination and uses creative thinking! Throughout the semester I’ll offer helpful hints of where to look, and how to get the “best bang for your buck” while still sticking to your style!
Join me as we explore the fashion on BYU’s campus. This semester I have been assigned to STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK, so tune in on Mondays for creative ideas!
