To be a Style Guru or not to be a Style Guru, that WAS the question!

Hello, my name is Maggie Mumar. I will be attending Santa Monica Community College this fall to pursue an associate degree in Fashion Design. I am extremely excited for this fall semester because it will be my first semester of college. What makes it even more exciting is that I get to explore other people’s fashion through CollegeFashionista. Fashion has been an inspiration to me as an individual. Like many people, I use it to express myself. I find it captivating when people are capable of putting an outfit together to show what and how they feel about themselves. What’s even more captivating are the pieces that make an outfit, it’s all about the details, right?

Here’s a little summary of my style. Most of the time I wear clothes that express my bubbly personality and clothes that give me a sense of freedom. Colorful skirts and basic tops paired with sandals or jeans with tops that are light-weight and flip flops are my usual looks. My go to outfit is a simple white shirt, denim shorts and sandals along with a shoulder bag. My outfits really correspond with the California bipolar weather.

As an aspiring designer, my inspiration has always been the legendary Alexander McQueen. As for my daily fashion, I look up to the blogger Aimee Song for inspiration. One of my fashion mottos is, “you don’t have to spend a million dollars to feel and look like a million dollars.” It’s not always about how much you spend on a piece, it’s about finding the right piece for your closet.

As I came across this opportunity to be a Style Guru, I had my little Hamlet moment (refer back to my Hamlet inspired introduction). As I started to click the “APPLY TO BE A STYLE GURU” button, I contemplated whether or not I would be a great representative for CollegeFashionista, but now I am here writing. I guess you will all have to see for yourself if I am one in my upcoming posts!
