I am so thrilled to be returning as a Style Guru for the University at Albany for my third semester! Let’s begin this summer semester with an honest truth: while I enjoy writing about fall and winter fashion, I have been anxiously awaiting the chance to write about the fashion season that I love the most, which is summer. On my best days, I would say I only slightly tolerate the cold weather and the only thing that gets me through is the thought of the light, breezy clothes I will be rocking this upcoming summer. Thank goodness the time has come!
My summer style is quite simple. I prefer light and airy pieces that flow and are comfortable in the heat. Jean shorts and a tank top are right up my alley but what I love the most is a sweet sundress for everyday wear. I recently purchased linen pants in both taupe and olive colors and already, they have become a summer staple in my wardrobe. I love how they can easily transition from the beach during the day to a night out with a quick change of blouse. For my footwear, I love a patterned flat sandal like this pair from Steve Madden I’ve been eying. High fashion yet practical for summer walks outside, they are a great summer shoe for me. Finally, I love finishing my warm weather look with a unique necklace. I usually have three pendants in rotation; a silver initial monogram, a polished green stone and personalized silver elephants. Completing an outfit with a one of a kind necklace creates a funky yet polished look that to me just screams summer.
Writing from New York City for the majority of the summer, I will be scouting the streets, camera in hand searching for Summer-istas! I can’t wait to feature a variety of trends on Mondays for STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK and show off many Fashionistas’ summertime styles.
