STYLE GURU BIO: Maggie Dillard

What’s up all you beautiful fashion enthusiasts?! I’m back for my fourth and final semester as a Style Guru, and let me just take a second to say, the time I’ve spent with CollegeFashionista has allowed me to develop a new and more passionate love for all types of fashion and how people can wear it so exquisitely. It has opened new doors and given me experiences that I’ll carry with me when taking the next step in life. It has helped me grow and evolve my own personal style and given me confidence to rock whatever ensemble I decide to slip into. Needless to say, being a Style Guru will be one of the things I’ll miss the most when leaving college.

I’m a senior at the University of West Georgia where I’m an English major and mass communications minor with a concentration in journalism. When I’m not writing a paper, a blog post, a blurb for a magazine, a newspaper article or any other thing writing related, you can catch me drinking coffee, on a road trip, snapchatting my friends, feeding my shopping addiction or reading my favorite fashion magazines while pretending to be a real fashion editor. Flipping the pages of Vogue is medicine to my soul and tends to inspire me to no end. A huge part of what I do and how I live is directly affected by the fashion that surrounds me, whether I discover it on my Instagram feed from other fashion bloggers, on my favorite models in a magazine, or adorning the bodies of my peers on my college campus. CollegeFashionista has given me the chance to combine my passion for both writing and fashion. Being a Style Guru feels like I’m living out my dream job.

My own personal style changes by the day and my mood. Some days I find myself leaning towards an all-black, sleek and chic look, while other days I feel as if I can’t get enough of an eye-catching, colorful print or pattern. But, I challenge myself on a daily basis to create a style that defines who I am, as I’m a firm believer that the world is a runway, and what you wear should echo who you are every single day.

For this look, I chose to feature the “cold-shoulder” trend that I’m completely obsessed with. I paired this deep blue top with a light, fuzzy cream cardigan. A good cardigan is a go-to piece during seasons of cooler weather. For the bottom, these velveteen pants add a fun texture to any outfit, and I brought back in the furry, cream hue of the cardigan with these tan wedge booties. Throw a statement bag with a little fringe on your shoulder and a pretty necklace around your neck, and your look is ready to be rocked.

I’m so excited to report on all of the most fab trends during my last semester in college. Check back here soon for more fashionably chic styles. In the meantime, stay #RAD, fashionista/os!
