My name is Madison Featherston, and I’m majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications at Ole Miss. This spring is my last semester of college, and I could not be more excited to finalize my experiences with one last opportunity to work with CollegeFashionsta.
This being my third semester as a Style Guru, I cannot express how much this experience has allowed my own personal sense of style to grow. I continue to be inspired as I see students both here in Oxford, and from all over the world, as showcased on CollegeFashionista.
In my opinion, personal style is the best asset one can have. It truly is wearable art, and a way to show others who you are. It’s also not a medium that is set or defined – we are expected to change it up from day to day.
Personally, my own wardrobe is overwhelmingly feminine – think chiffons, cozy knits, and delicate pieces. I’ve always loved the more ‘girly’ side of things, and this definitely shows through in my outfits today.
But I can’t get enough of the nineties resurgence that is being seen! I love the juxtaposition of more grungy pieces with what I already own – last fall I stocked up on flannels, moto-boots and I recently found the perfect denim jacket at a vintage store in Brooklyn.
And this is exactly what I love about fashion. The versatility of style allows for complete creative control – a sense of fashion is the most unique thing one can offer. Pieces new and old can constantly be worn in different ways to make up new looks; it all just depends on the day.
