STYLE GURU BIO: Madison Farrell

Hello, its me…..and I’m back for another semester at CollegeFashionista! This will be my second semester with this #RAD company and I could not be more excited. With the new year, and new semester, comes plenty of new trends, colors and styles to spot around on campus. So start your new year off right and show off your fresh looks and fashion finds.

My style is becoming more and more neutral with a tendency to stick with soft materials that are still fashionable. That’s what I had in mind when choosing this featured outfit. To begin, I picked a long sleeve, knit, drop waist, dress from my favorite boutique; Mint L.A I paired the neutral colors with a gray, faux fur vest and my go-to black lace tights. To keep dry from the rain, I used my burgundy felt hat. To tie everything together, my handbag of choice is my beige bucket purse from coach. I love their new line and their new styles!

I think that the key to a successful wardrobe is finding pieces that you can use in many different ways and achieve outfits that can work for both day and night. During the winter, I think this becomes more difficult to do. So many outfits during the day consist of sweaters, denim, boots and vests, but carrying that into the night can be more challenging. In this outfit I tried to mix the day and night to appeal together. By wearing the sweater dress and pairing with the tights creates a more dressy/night look while the vest and hat play up the more causal side of day.
