STYLE GURU BIO: Madison Brunner

What’s up Fashionistas/os? I’m Madison Brunner, a senior marketing student at Duquesne University. For anyone who has never heard of Duquesne, it is a private school located in downtown Pittsburgh. Living in the city fuels my shopping addiction. I am within walking distance to stores like Brooks Brothers and Anthropologie, but as a poor college student I usually find myself shopping at local boutiques like Figleaf.

After class, you can find me eating tacos and reading my favorite website, Harper’s Bazaar. I also stalk fashion icon Negin Mirsalehi on social media for outfit and travel inspiration. My all-time favorite place to shop for clothes is Francesca’s, because they have outfits for everything ranging from Sunday morning brunch, to sorority formal, to lazy cute going to class looks. I never leave Francesca’s disappointed. My favorite place to shop for jewelry is BP. by Nordstrom, and I’m almost always wearing gold jewelry.

I would describe my style as somewhere between Blair Waldorf and Kendall Jenner. In the wintertime, J.Crew is my go-to place to shop, and I embrace my inner Blair with preppy outfits. When it’s snowing, you will see me walking the streets wearing a button-down shirt underneath a sweater, then I pair it with a statement necklace. But, hot summer nights sometimes call for a crop top and jean shorts. Overall, my style involves taking risks and experimenting with new trends.

My favorite season is fall for a lot of basic reasons, but mainly because it’s the easiest season to be stylish! Fall clothes look great on everyone, and it’s so easy to accessorize your jeans and T-shirt with tall boots and a blanket scarf to turn a simple outfit into a stylish one.

I believe fashion is an art and a way of self-expression. I love waking up in the morning and deciding what to wear. It really sets the tone for the whole day, because if you look good, you’ll feel good. As Marilyn Monroe said, “Give a girl the right pair of shoes, and she conquer the world.” When I’m wearing my Tory Burch flats, I feel I can conquer the world.
