STYLE GURU BIO: Madeline Rafferty

Hi there fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos!  My name is Madeline Rafferty and I am a freshman Graphic Design major at Western Kentucky University.  This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I could not be more thrilled! I have aspired to be a Style Guru since my sophomore year of high school.  I cannot wait to share with you the styles of Western Kentucky University.

I find that I tend to involve myself in many different activities wherever I go and I am so happy that this is one of them.  Style has always held a special place in my mind.  When I was in the fourth grade I decided that I was going to be a fashion designer one day, and honestly that dream still lives in my brain.  Some of my favorite designers include Diane von Furstenburg, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Delpozo.  I mostly wear outfits that are fun to look at.  My eye seems to find funky patterns, chic silhouettes, and quirky accessories.  I also have a slight obsession with makeup.  Oddly enough, I wake up every morning looking forward to contouring my face — who does that?!

As a college student, I am in no shape to be going on shopping excursions.  However, my goal is to present you with alternative, more affordable options while still looking like a million bucks!  Some of my favorite places to shop for pieces that look high dollar, but will not break the bank, are ASOS, H&M, Gap and Urban Outfitters.  ASOS is my favorite place to search for high quality as well as super stylish pieces.  Among my favorite places to find trusty basics, Gap takes the number one spot.  As I meet Fashionista/os around campus I hope to add to my list of places to shop, as well as gaining insight as to what style means to them.  Much like art and music I feel as though fashion is a universal language.  As I meet people from around the country and around the world I tend to validate that statement.

As I said before, I am so ecstatic to be on the team here at CollegeFashionista!  I am excited to get rolling with posts and see where this internship may lead!
