STYLE GURU BIO: Madeline Galassi

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Madeline Galassi, and I am a soon-to-be junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am studying news-editorial journalism and hope to be a part of the magazine industry after graduation—which, although two years away, is much closer than I’d like it to be.

Writing has always been my greatest passion, and when I’m writing about the things I love, it becomes that much more enjoyable. After experiencing some of the journalism world the past couple of years, I have developed a newfound love for storytelling. There’s nothing better to me than getting a glimpse into someone’s life and being able to share their story, which makes being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista all the more enjoyable for me; a person’s unique outfit or sense of style allows me to get a preview of the chapter of their story they’re currently in.

With everyone’s story comes the outfits that go with it. I believe that what you wear shows who you are without words needing to be said. I love being able to walk down the street or scroll through Pinterest to get a full week of outfit inspiration and see people wear things that I wouldn’t ordinarily be drawn to and be left inspired.

One of my favorite childhood pastimes was playing dress-up, and I like to think that it carried into my adulthood. Describing my own style is easier said than done, but if I had to put my style into one general category, it would be feminine. Light pink is basically considered a neutral to me, and I always cheer on the brides that choose blush-colored wedding gowns on Say Yes to the Dress.

Here I’m wearing a Francesca’s necklace, romper and lace-up heels. I am very excited to spend the summer exploring the unique fashions of my peers and hope to leave feeling more inspired than ever.
