STYLE GURU BIO: Madeleine Schwarz

Hey Fashionistas/os, my name is Madeleine, and I am beyond excited to begin my first semester here at CollegeFashionista! I am a freshmen studying journalism at San Diego State University and cannot wait to see where blogging takes me. Here’s some info about me:

I grew up in California’s infamously cool Bay Area surrounded by all kinds of amazing people and vibes. San Francisco will forever have my heart. The city holds an immeasurable amount of eccentric styles that continues to leave me in awe as I stroll down Haight Street, thrift in the Mission District and day dream in Dolores Park. I greatly attribute my varied style to my upbringing in the Bay Area and its wonderfully eclectic people whom I have had the honor of meeting.

My teenage years were spent adventuring through California and discovering all of its beautiful rarities. I fell in love with both skyscrapers and sand and, when the time came, I decided that San Diego would be my perfect medium. San Diego’s perfect combination of city skyline and salty ocean air continues to take my breath away, and with just one semester behind me, I have years left to appreciate all that my new city has to offer.

For as long as I can remember, I have spent hours upon hours crafting the perfect outfit for the upcoming day. I treat getting ready for morning classes on campus with the same tenacity as if I’m going downtown for a night with friends. Throughout my many years of styling myself, I have found that there are a few items in my closet that I consider to be my essentials. High-waisted jeans, delicate bralettes, black booties and my favorite leather backpack are my favorite go-to items. Lately I have been intrigued by eccentric outerwear, like this vintage velvet oversized blazer, and when layered over a kimono, the perfect amount of bohemian edginess that defines my style is found.

Thank you to all who are following me on this journey; here’s to a semester of SDSU street style!
