STYLE GURU BIO: Madeleine Schlosser

Style Guru Bio

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Madeleine Schlosser and this will be my second time writing for CollegeFashionista as a Tulane University Style Guru. I’m a rising junior pursuing a double Marketing and English major with a Psychology minor. I am so happy to be writing for CollegeFashionista again because it will give me a creative outlet to escape the grind of my summer classes and work.

I had a great experience during my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and the Tulane LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS column. I was amazed by how much I learned about men’s fashion in just one semester. While I loved finding boys around campus to photograph and reading up on men’s trends, I can hardly put into words how excited I am to write Tulane’s first STYLE GURU STYLE column! In my dream future I would be a famous fashion blogger or stylist and so fittingly, this column will give me great experience to work towards this goal. I already have spent hours of my life putting together outfits in my room and browsing through the latest runway shows, so getting to write about translating trends from designers into my everyday looks is a dream come true.

My love of fashion started at a young age and has grown exponentially since then. I look forward to any chance I have to get dolled up and believe it’s always better to be slightly overdressed. While I have my busy mornings when throwing on gym clothes seems like the only option, I stand by my belief that looking and feeling good is the key to success. Feeling confident in an outfit can change a person’s entire outlook and attitude.

My style changes on a daily basis depending on the weather, the day’s activities or even just my mood. Because New Orleans’ summers are notoriously sweltering, staying cool is very important when considering my outfits. One go-to look for me is sandals, a sundress or crop top and skirt with one of my many kimonos thrown over. My Northeastern roots have made it so that I’m almost always wearing black, but this summer I’m hoping to play around with adding more color and prints into my wardrobe. I’m never without some type of jewelry whether it’s long chandelier earrings, a statement necklace or my recent hat or headscarf obsessions. I have a few stores that I typically shop at but I love searching for clothes and accessories are thrift shops and boutiques.

I can’t wait to share my outfits with all of you and show you how to take inspiration from the runway and translate it into your own look! Be sure to look out every Tuesday for your weekly inspiration.
