STYLE GURU BIO: Maddy Cloud

I wish that I had that ‘ah-ha’ moment where I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. Rather it being one specific moment, I would like to believe that it was a bunch of little ones that made the big picture, well, bigger. I was definitely the product of my father because at a young age, I was a full on tomboy. I look through old pictures all the time and wonder how people did not confuse me for a boy…thank you Mom for that heinous bowl cut. Growing up with two older sisters definitely sparked my love of the industry. I remember seeing them go through all of their phases of styles. Like army pants and flip flops (seriously it wasn’t just a Mean Girls thing) or the shoe lace as a choker—I wonder if that trend spread anywhere else but Tallahassee…I hope not. Seeing them phase trends in and out so quickly gave me the desire to have a style that wasn’t so outrageous or trendy, but one that wasn’t over done and allowed me to stay true to myself.

My mom laughs when she sees me wearing certain things because she always says that that is what she wore when she was my age. I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I sometimes think that my style is a little old school because my love for a good pair of flares certainly did not come from this decade. But I wouldn’t necessarily pinpoint my style as old school. I pull from so many different times and trends that my style can be referred to as a one-stop-shop: You can find it all in one place. I love the edginess of a leather jacket. I adore the femininity of a floral midi. I have an undying secret soft spot for an old beat up pair of sneakers. Seriously, a one-stop-shop.

I always told myself that I love dressing for fall and that I absolutely loathe dressing for the summer. But I could not have been more wrong. Ladies, if you are like me in that sense, find yourself an amazing pair of cut-offs and call it a day. Levi Brand shorts are personally my favorite this season and especially at a place called Re/Done. They take old Levi Brand shorts and, just like the name says, redo them!! You can never go wrong with a pair of cut-offs. I also love the bodysuit trend that is happening. It’s like a one-and-done type deal if you know what I mean. Another item that is pretty much a staple in my wardrobe is ankle strap heels. Like seriously if you don’t have a pair you are missing out. Take my word for it.

I hope you enjoyed getting a little sneak peak of what goes on in my brain style wise. It can be chaotic. But nonetheless, I can’t wait to show you more as the summer unveils!! Xoxo.
