STYLE GURU BIO: Mackenzie Schoenherr

Hello my loves! I am currently a freshman at Ohio University, studying broadcast journalism. My first semester was a little crazy and I am so happy to be on winter break. And of course, I am beyond ecstatic to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this semester.

My overall fashion style is cute and chic. I tend to be drawn to sparkles, but I love a classic A-line dress. My fashion icons are Marilyn Monroe when I’m going out, and Audrey Hepburn for day-to-day wear. I love high heels and I wear them as much as I can. To spice up an outfit, my go-to is throwing on some patterned tights with a simple skirt and sweater. That way, I can transition from day to night simply by changing my shoes.

In the winter months, my go-to is a denim-on-denim party. I love the look of two different types of denim together. The top I am wearing is an oversized denim button-down with floral embellishments. The flowers add a pop of femininity, and knotting the top at my natural waistline defines my shape. The skirt hugs my hips and then flairs out a bit to make the overall look fun and flirty.

Another one of my fashion staples are socks. I have very short legs, so I love wearing thigh-high socks to elongate my little stumps. I’m also a very big fan of layering, so I put cute frilly socks over my thigh-high socks to add a sense of childlike fun.

Boots are a fashion must-have; from riding boots and UGGs to my beloved Timberland boots, boots and booties are an affirmative for everyone. No matter the height or age, everyone and anyone can pull off boots. My absolute favorite pair of boots are my Timberland boots. The chunky heel is perfect for dressing up any look, and the versatility of the color works with virtually any outfit you can think of.

My last piece of advice for the winter months to come is this: find a bag that can work throughout the seasons and with any outfit. The bag I have gotten the most use out of is my little Coach purse. It can transition from day to night, and always has my essentials packed away. The small size makes it easily portable, and is just posh enough to use for a night out on the town.

I love to keep my makeup simple with a little pop. I stick with a matte foundation, nude lip and played up eyes. I use two different mascaras, one for length and one for volume. Eyeliner wise, I stick with a nice gray color and layer it with different dark colors based on my outfit. In this picture, I am wearing a navy color to complement my eyes.

My look tends to be chill and chic, and I love keeping up with modern trends. I am excited to be a Style Guru this semester and ride out the fashion waves with you all.
