Hi, Fashionistas/os! My name is Lizzy and I’m a rising sophomore at New York University studying photography, imaging and journalism. Fashion has always been a passion of mine, and I am so ecstatic to be writing for the WHAT TO WEAR section of CollegeFashionista this summer!
While I love writing and taking pictures, fashion has always quite literally consumed my life (you can ask my roommate about the piles and piles of clothes on our floor). My love of fashion started the way that many girls’ love probably did, with my mother’s collection of dresses, makeup and hoards of shoes. When I was a little girl I would sneak away with my mom’s things and stand in front of the bathroom mirror for hours primping, just trying on different accessories and outfits. I can still hear my mom calling, “Lizzy, come on, you’ve been in there for forever!” Well, I guess some things never change, and here I am today, the same clothes-hoarding girl, just as obsessed as ever. With clothes and shoes, enough never seems to be enough.
One of the best things about fashion is that it is constantly changing. You never have to live in any one style for too long — you can be whoever you want, whenever you want. You can change who you are with a simple swipe of lipstick, or with the change of a shoe. Change is what keeps life interesting and I have learned to let fashion take me where it will.
I’ve gone through so many stages; I don’t have enough fingers to count them all. From tomboy to floral prints hoarder, I’ve been through it all. These days my heart only beats for black; black shirts, shoes, purses, pants — the more the better! I find it to be such a chic and classy color. I live in basic cut clothes: box dresses, pencil skirts and black heels. While I love my basics, fashion is all about taking risks, and I love spicing things up with a dark lip or thigh-high socks!
I am so excited to begin my internship this summer and begin exploring the world around me in new ways! I can’t wait to learn and grow from all the fantastic people that I’ll be working with. Keep your eyes peeled every Thursday for more from me — it’ll be an adventure!
