As a first time Style Guru for College Fashionista I am thrilled to be part of the team! My name is Lizzette Gonzalez and I am a sophomore at Montclair State University, a school that has a wide range of backgrounds and various fashion trends. I am a Fashion Studies major with a minor in business. I have always been infatuated with fashion especially in styling and merchandising. I come from the small town of North Bergen, New Jersey just right outside New York City! I have always been inspired by different trends such as street styles and urban apparel in both commercial and non-commercial brands. I personally don’t believe in having a specific type of style. I love to experiment and be able to mix-up different trends and looks that set ourselves apart from others. Confidence is key in what you wear, and feeling comfortable in what you wear will ultimately express your individuality. During my spare time I love to shop at various thrift stores. Thrift shops are one of the most popular places to collect vintage items and find extremely affordable clothing that is still up to date with today’s fashion. I’d say about 80 percent of my closet is from thrift shops and I absolutely love and wear every single piece!
I will be writing the ACCESSORIES REPORT for this semester and I am excited to see the fashion trends that await this spring. Accessories are definitely one of my favorite parts of fashion. You can say I’m a big accessory junkie and won’t ever leave my house without accessories on. Working for Aldo for the past two years has made me familiar with a wide variety of accessories and you’d be surprised how accessories can really put a whole outfit together!
To me fashion isn’t about having luxury or big name brand items, it is about how you can put together different styles that define who you are. You can still be extremely fashionable on a student budget without having to spend a lot. My main goal this semester is to introduce to you to the best accessories worn from Fashionistas and Fashionistos at Montclair State University, as well as give you advice on where to find these pieces and how to wear them best. Can’t wait to see what these students have to offer!
