Hi Fashionistas! My name is Lisa Melchionda, and I am thrilled to be working with CollegeFashionista for my third semester. I am a Sophomore at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I will be posting articles every Wednesday, so be sure to check them out!

I’ve been obsessed with fashion ever since I was young. I would play dress up from a young age, always walking around in my plastic princess heels. My mom could not take me to a store without me attempting to take purses, jewelry and accessories into the carriage with me. I loved to express myself through my clothing and I still do.

At a young age, I began to draw up my own sketches and make various types of designs. I loved to design my own outfits and show them off to friends and family. As I got older, I became more interested in the business side of fashion instead of designing. After taking two summer precollege courses at FIT, I became more interested in the fashion industry and wanted to learn more. That is why I chose to go to Marist College— I knew that if I decided to pursue a fashion degree, I would be at one of the top fashion schools.

Coming into college, I did not know what I wanted to do. After taking fashion courses, I decided to major in Fashion Merchandising with a double concentration in Fashion Promotion and Product Development. I really enjoy all the classes I am in and am happy I made the right choice.

I would consider my style to be contemporary and edgy with a hint of grunge. I love the color black and anything leather. I love studs, spikes and any other type of similar designs. Dressing in dark colors accents my dark hair, which is my favorite feature of myself. In this outfit, I show off how much I really love black and dark colors. This jacket was the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I love the leather shoulder and elbow accents. I threw on my favorite black jeans and a dark green sweater. I like to add pops of darker colors that accent black. One of my favorite new trends is the choker. In this outfit I paired my favorite beaded choker with a statement necklace with chains. I wore my favorite boots that play off of the silver in the necklace perfectly. This outfit is the epitome of my typical everyday style.

I am super excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for a third semester! Be sure to check out my articles each week!
