STYLE GURU BIO: Lilli Lopez

Hey there Fashionista/os!  My name is Lilli Lopez. I just finished up my first semester at the University of Iowa. I am currently majoring in journalism and mass communication and minoring in art. Before this year, I had never stepped foot on to a college campus. To say I didn’t have it all together is an understatement, but I finally got all the pieces to the puzzle right and began my love story with Iowa City. I fell in love with Iowa city and how diverse it is, from coffee shops to the prime late night food carts I just knew it was the place for me. I can’t really say I have one favorite place, but I have many: Hot House Yoga, Heirloom, the Rec and the one I spend my most time at Art Building West. So if you ever make it to Iowa City, be sure to check them out.

I have always had a love affair and passion for clothes and all that comes with it. The bright clothes and different textures and different types of fabrics intrigue me.  Things to know about my style is that I am a Free People junkie with inspiration from Jenna Dewan.  I love the flower child, hippie look that Free People and Jenna Dewan have. My family tells me I should have been born in the ’70s, and I agree with them.  I may not always look put together, but I am always confident in what I am wearing. I believe that we all should be confident and comfortable in what we are wearing because style is a way to express ourselves and that is what I want my message to be to my fellow Fashionista/os!

For my first post, I have decided to bring back the basics: blue jeans and a white tank. This outfit has so much you can do it with it or not do anything with. I am wearing a white tank-top, light wash high-waisted skinny jeans and gladiator sandals. I chose to wear two simple necklaces that I thought were the right touch to this simple outfit. Across the board this outfit is great for a guy or girl. Being simple with a touch of your own style can really make it unique.

Always remember to be you, be free and be.
