STYLE GURU BIO: Lianna Rubinaccio

Hi, everyone! My name is Lianna and I’m so excited to be one of CollegeFashionista’s newest Style Gurus! Thanks to my obvious love for fashion, I am currently a junior at Montclair State University working toward a fashion studies degree. One of the best things about college so far is getting the opportunity to learn about the things that really interest me, which makes all the projects and assignments not feel like work at all (well, sometimes). Being creative is something that I have always loved and comes naturally to me, which is one of the reasons I love fashion so much. But I’m also really interested in what goes on behind the scenes of the industry and what it takes to keep it all running. These are reasons why I also chose to pursue a double minor in both business and fashion merchandising. I want to learn about as many aspects of the industry as I can!

A lot of people turn to fashion as an outlet for individuality and self-expression. For me, fashion has become an outlet for self-expression more and more throughout the years. I love the confidence that can be felt by putting on an outfit and just feeling like, this tells the world exactly who I am. For me, I love anything that flows or drapes effortlessly. Free People is one of my all time favorite brands, because of the effortless look of the pieces but also because of the unique attention to detail. A simple embellishment, an elegant low cut back or just the way their clothes look completely effortless but stylish are reasons that set them apart from other brands and reasons why I love the clothing so much. My ideal outfit has lots of loose flowing layers that let me feel comfortable but also has details that make me stand out from the rest.

On a lazy day off, you can find me in between a fuzzy blanket and the couch watching HGTV or Bravo for hours. When I’m feeling more productive, I love to sketch, craft some DIY décor for my room or go outside and take photos of anything that inspires me. I love photos because they represent memories and people that I never want to forget. I also like putting together video clips from different memories, making them flow together nicely and putting them to music; like a little music video of memories to have forever! One of my favorites for capturing the good times is my Fijufilm Instax Mini instant film camera. Having pictures come out right away makes it feel so unique.

I was instantly drawn to an internship like this one with CollegeFashionista because of my love of fashion and photography. It’ll also be nice to start writing a bit more. Here’s to my first post as a Style Guru and many more to come!
