STYLE GURU BIO: Lexy Wright

Bonjour fellow fashion gurus. My name is Lexy and I am so thrilled to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team so I can share one of my many passions with you all!

Growing up in Chicago, I saw a lot of individuality and inspiration when it came to style. I went to majority uniform schools growing up so my peers and I would try our hardest to look different from each other through minor details like wacky socks! I found that what made me happy and gave me confidence was being creative and authentic through how I presented myself.

I am now a sophomore at the University of Iowa majoring in Cinema/Creative Writing. I love being creative. When I was 14 years old, I took an interest in Tumblr and was influenced through so many people. I learned creative DIY’s and was inspired by the variety of women I followed. I was especially influenced by curvier girls and women whom I resembled. I was encouraged to be confident in whom I am as an individual and I hope to encourage others do the same.

This look is a cute and simple go-to for a day out or an event. The black skirt is actually a long sleeve dress! The length and simpleness of this dress makes it appropriate for any time or event and allows room for versatility with how it is worn. It can be accessorized with a scarf and cardigan/sweater or even by itself. Depending on the event or look you want to achieve; it can be dressed up with heels, paired with sandals, dressed down with Converse or as shown here with knee-high/calf boots.

My sweater was thrifted for $10 from a co-sign shop in Iowa City! Sweaters and cardigans can make a difference with any outfit and are perfect for when you don’t want to wear a coat or when you want a little extra warmth.

Purses are a simple and great way to accessorize your outfit. This purse is a kate spade that I’ve had for one year. Due to the fact that it is in black, I can wear it with nearly everything. From experience, purses with bright colors and bold patterns got very little wear because I eventually outgrew them or I couldn’t wear them as much as I would have liked to. Some of my favorite sites with stylish purses are: Forever 21, Topshop, Zara, Zappos, GoJane and LuLu’s.

I hope that my fellow readers and Style Gurus are able to find inspiration for new things and I hope you enjoy my posts!
