STYLE GURU BIO: Lexi Boyer

Hello college Fashionitas/os!

I am very excited to continue my writing for CollegeFashionista as this is my second semester as a Style Guru. I am an upcoming junior at Marquette University studying Psychology and Writing-Intensive English with a huge passion for fashion. I love styling otherwise simply outfits and creating them into a wearable, comfortable ensemble, perfect for anything from going out to meeting mama for brunch. It’s all about versatility for me; the easier, the better.

When I’m not taking my online classes for Marquette this summer or keeping up with my other Style Gurus, you can find me sitting in any coffee shop imaginable reading some rom-com style book or playing soccer for my schools club team and feeding my already intense competitive nature. If you’ve been unable to find me at the local café or soccer field, I’m probably adventuring around with my friends around Chicago as my family has recently permanently moved there. The bustling city is the perfect inspiration for not only my fashion but also my overall lifestyle. Diversity, self-love and self-confidence is abundant in the city and it’s a beautiful energy to be around and continues to inspire my creativity.

Clothes are beyond just covering what the Good Lord gave you, they’re a way to express your creativity, your style and your confidence but to also push yourself and try new things! Trying a new trend is like trying spicy food; you have to keep pushing yourself to try new things to find exactly what you like. Style is all about making yourself feel good in the skin that you’re in.

For my first post of the summer, I decided to celebrate the warm weather in Chicago (finally) with a flowy shirtdress. It’s a clean, simple, easy to throw on and most importantly, this dress is super comfy. Shirtdresses are a great way to keep yourself cool while looking effortlessly fashion-forward.

As far as accessories go, I decided to keep with a boho theme by sporting sandals with thick straps, giving the dress a contrast in color but also not overpowering it, which can be easily done if you overdress an outfit with thin stripes. I threw on a pendant necklace with a stone that matched closely with the color of my sandals, bringing together the accessories a little bit. Finally, the sunglasses. How I love these sunglasses. The circular frame gives a retro vibe to the outfit while adding another little bit of color while keeping the peepers protected from the sun.

Looking forward to another wonderful summer of style!
