Happy New Year, my fellow Fashionistas!

I’m Leana Rae Concepcion and this is my second semester being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am currently a sophomore at Pace University in Manhattan, where I am working towards my BFA in musical theatre.

Here are some super fun facts about myself! Obviously, after you’re done reading this you’ll know everything there is to know about me and then we can be besties. Duh.

I am a California girl by birth, but a New Yorker by choice. I have always, for as long as I can remember, wanted to live in New York. This city literally feels like it’s its own universe and that is truly something special. Okay, sometimes the subways don’t work (especially on the weekend. Ugh.) and maybe the weather can’t make up its mind most of the time, but living in a city where you can physically feel the pulse and energy of the people and dreams around you is pretty indescribable. I wouldn’t exchange it for any other place. I didn’t always want to pursue a career in the performing arts. I always thought I would follow in my father’s footsteps and join the military. The plan was to attend a service academy and work as an intelligence officer. But, I got “bit by the theatre bug,” as they say, and it’s been jazz hands and show tunes ever since.

I absolutely love corgis! Honestly, this is the most important fact about me. I really hope you love them too, because they are hard not to love. Kate Spade is my pride and joy and I have no idea what I would do without her. I can’t function if I don’t have a chai tea latte at least once a day. I’m also in constant search for the perfect one in the city, so if you know any good ones, please let me know!

I am obsessed with How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s Anatomy, and Younger. So, go watch them! Gossip Girl is my weakness and I’ve watched it three times. You can’t judge me on this because I am sure you’ve done the same.

I’ve always wanted to be a wedding designer or an interior designer. I know, super random but I can’t help myself. I am an absolute bibliophile and I am always looking for my next favorite book. I grew out of my awkward phase when I got to college. So I promise you, it gets better, my friend. It gets better.

Oh, one more thing… I love fashion because of how versatile it truly is. One minute I am going full glam and dressed to the nines and the next I’m sporting a more athleisure look. New York City always has me on the go so athleisure has been my go-to look. I cannot live without my favorite lululemon leggings, a comfy turtleneck to keep me warm and a bomber jacket for layering. So don’t be afraid to test out new trends because there is a whole world out there for you to discover!

Here’s to a fabulous semester and a Happy New Year!
