My name is Leah Vitrano and I am currently a sophomore studying Interior Design at High Point University. What a more perfect place to be than beautiful North Carolina, the furniture capital of the United States! My passion for design stems from my artistic background and keen eye for style. I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to write for the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column!
Being from sunny Orange County, California, I have yet again packed my bags and moved to North Carolina to continue my college journey. I’ve said goodbye to my ever-chic bohemian friends and hello to a world of pastels and lively Lilly Pulitzer prints. It is safe to say that my polished rocker edge can be startling to the eyes of my fellow classmates. I am drawn to the simple, yet intense emotion black can bring to an outfit. You can always find me wearing black whether it be head-to-toe, or through the addition of a bold cuff. However, my look is never complete without a pop of color. Being a firm believer that accessories have the power to transform an outfit, that unexpected dash of neon could be the missing piece!
College is the time to find yourself. It is a new experience bringing new people into your life, and with that comes different means of self-expression. One of the main outlets for expressing yourself is through your style. Now is the time to explore the world of fashion; do not be afraid to pull off a loud print or to stack your arms with gleaming jewelry. Make every outfit your own and wear it with pride!
Exploring the southern flair of my campus has given me a greater appreciation for style, regardless of where you’re from. I am accustomed to the laid back, California-casual style, but I have grown to value the more conservative look of pearls and daring prints of the south. My mind constantly gravitates towards the details of an outfit, a space, and an overall look. I feel as though I bring a unique outlook through my bi-coastal perspective, and I cannot wait to report to you my findings down here in the South!
